The Count of Monte Cristo

1) How is the power of imagination a major theme of the story?

Luo is the master story teller in the book. When Luo starts his stories, the audience becomes enchanted and possibly become the stories. The audience cannot wait until the next time he will tell his story. His stories allow the audience to dream and become alive without worry of the actual world. He is able to create a mental picture as if the audience is watching a movie. The stories are so magnificent that Luo and the main character are allowed days off in order to find a new story to tell. Luo is usually the story teller, but on some occasions the main character is the story teller. They are both great at telling stories and entrance the audience into worrying about only what the characters will do and not what the outside world is doing. These stories bring excitement and people together that would not have normally gotten together. The audience is allowed to travel outside the domain of China and into an alternate universe where anyone can be anyone.

Tragedy in Othello

The tragedy of the play is that at the end everyone realized they were being duped and tricked by Iago and that Othello
took responsibility for his actions and he killed himself. He is like Oedipus in the way that they both took responsibility for
their actions and punished themselves for it. Oedipus blinded himself, and Othello killed himself. Othello's actions are
represented throughout the characters of the play.
Othello either makes or brakes Iago's plan. If Othello does not fall for Iago's tricks, then Iago would have finished only half
of the plan. Iago does however, find ways to "plant a seed" of destruction.
Othello is pretty much the "top dog" in this play. If Iago can take down Othello he should have no trouble getting what he
wants. Iago uses his wit and determination to fool Othello. Othello is intertwined with all of the characters and therefore
affects them all. If Othello does not buy into what Iago is saying, then the only person to die is Rodrigo. This would not help
Iago to complete his mission.
Iago depends on Othello's trusting of his war buddies. Othello unknowingly helps Iago to succeed. All of the main
characters of the play are harmed in some way by the will of Iago through Othello. Othello eventually becomes Iago's puppet.
Because of this, Othello affects everyone in the play.

Oedipus

Oedipus and Harold Crick have taught me that I am responsible for my actions even though my fate is sealed; however, for Harold Crick, this was not the case. Harold did everything he could to knowingly walk into his fate. Through his actions he changed his fate. When he accepted his fate was when he changed his fate. I would have, in that situation, done everything in my power to change my fate.
Oedipus was a good man with a bad fate. He tried to change his fate for all good reasons. This is what classifies him as a good man. When he finds out that his fate has come true, Oedipus punishes himself, but does not kill himself. He takes responsibility for his fate, but wants to let other people know that he was responsible.

Family

One of my pet peeves is when my mom eats she pops her jaw. It is an accidental and involuntary action that still bothers me. When my dad eats I can sometimes hear him swollow and it is the worst of sounds. My family sometimes eats in silence and I can hear these disgusting sounds all the time. I usally go into another room to eat or tell my parents of the annoying sound that I cannot stand. Sounds that people make while eating are the most disgusting sounds I can think of. When I eat at school I never hear any noises from eating because there is so much commotion in the lunchroom.
My "brother" Grant came into my life when I was young and he was still in high school. He would babysit us often. After he had trouble in college he came back to Atlanta. Grant babysat us for a long time until he eventually moved in. He now was like a brother to me and my siblings and a son to my parents. Grant would take us places and hang out with us and even drive us to school. He became the closest non relative I have ever had. My whole family felt like we had adopted him and even called him our family. He was as close to me in my heart as my mom and dad. He has since moved out but is still in touch and has come over to see us many times. WMy family even saw him when we went out to get Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Live or Die in LA

I would rather live for eighty years and be an average person than "live" for 1000 years and and die when I am twenty. I do not need all the excitement of living free and dying hard to be happy. If I were to die in my twenties I would not be able to have a family. To many people families are what makes them the most happy. To me being happy is more than being famous. I would not be able to try many different things and get to fail at them. I would only be able to do one thing that made me famous. There is no telling whether or not I would be happy with my job. It is an easy answer for me that I would want to live into my eighties.

Swastika

Most people think that this is the Nazi symbol and the symbol for racism and hatered.
This is actually origionated from the Hindu and Buddhist symbol for good luck. The Nazis stole this symbol and now most people do not know that it is used in many cultures for good uses. This is the problem with people that they look at something and think they know what it is then they don't want to listen to other people about what is really going on.

Quotes

"He's on his final hole. He's about 455 yards away, he's gonna hit about a 2 iron I think... Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole! " This quote is from Bill Murry in CaddyShack. I really like this quote because it is just him pretending that he is an amazing golfer and a really powerful hitter. Bill Murry is usually the character that is not so well off.

"This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff." This is one of my favorite movies of all time. One of the reasons I chose this quote is because this whole scene was improved. I think Bill Murry is one of the funniest actors of all time. He is also a really random person.
